Well, ecstatic is hardly a word I can use to describe how we are feeling at Elemental Imports.   Having the exclusive  ability to distribute the Plumas line of luxury bedding in Canada is a gigantic leap forward for us.  We had the opportunity to personally meet Peruvian designer Natalie Barhumi on our last trip to Lima, Peru.  We Natalie at a fashion show we attended and made it a point to visit her in her shop following the event.

Natalie Barhumi is a 19 year veteran Designer in Lima Peru.  Her bedding is currently featured in most if not all the 5 star Hotels in Peru.  Her devotion goes not only into her bedding but she has ensured that at Plumas it is your sleep that is most important.  Each pillow is carefully constructed to ensure that your sleep is the best, each and every time you snuggle between a set of Plumas sheets.  Each sheet set comes exquisitely wrapped in a baby blue box with a plastic cover so that you can see the sheets.  Even the quality of the box, and it’s presentation give you the feeling of utmost luxury and quality.  Natalie has ensured that she has not missed a beat, in defining luxury bedding.

Plumas does not utilize patterns or printed fabric as those types of mechanical processing deteriorate the cloth so that the fibers become weak, and ultimately do not last.  For a review of what the Cotton Inc considers defects or to read more on the benefits/origins of Cotton please follow the following link to Cottoninc

Sleeping on clouds is how I would have to describe the Plumas showroom.   Each bedding ensemble on display whispered sweet dreams as your head touched the fabric.  Natalie had a saying inscribed on her walls at her showroom.  It read relax, rest, sleep, dream….. It is a  saying that has stuck with me, and each time my head touches my pillowcase, I feel that comfort, and my sleep is most definitely relaxed and I feel well rested.  It is so amazing how a good nights rest can invigorate you.

Needless to say, we forged ahead knowing that we had to bring the exquisite line of bedding to our fellow Canadians.  For those that do not know “botanically, there are three principal groups of cotton that are of commercial importance. The first, (Gossypium hirsutum), is native to Mexico and Central America and has been developed for extensive use in the United States, accounting for more than 95 percent of U.S. production. This group is known in the United States as American Upland cotton, and varies in length from about 7/8 to 1 5/16 inches. A second botanical group, (G. barbadense), which makes up the balance of U.S. production, is of early South American origin. Varying in length from 1 1/4 to 1 9/16 inches, it is known in the United States as American Pima, but is also commonly referred to as Extra Long Staple (ELS) cotton.  Egyptian Cotton could be ELS but not necessarily.  The ELS Pima Cotton provides a smoother finish to the cotton as it’s length allows it to maintain a nicer weave and tighter knit.” Cotton Inc
